proud hen with peeps

Okay, when the hen goes missing I am usually pretty sure she’s back to setting on eggs in her favorite hide out in the hay stack. True to form she showed up in the barn last Saturday. Sitting there all happy and then she stood up and it was like a wave of ants. Only in this case they were little black fuzzy peeps. I had to take a picture just to count them. They don’t stand still. This hen must have sat on a mountain of eggs. There are 16 chicks. Of course following this addition to the flock the temps took a turn and we had freezing for most of the week. the little ones did well and she has now joined back up with the flock and they are learning to free range.
